Torchlight 3 Launching October 13, Available On PC, Xbox One, And PlayStation 4

It’s been a long road for Torchlight 3. After beginning life as Torchlight Frontiers, a free-to-play MMO, developer Echtra Games changed course after receiving extensive feedback from fans and instead turned the game into a more traditional Torchlight offering. Offline singleplayer would once again be a cornerstone of the game as Echtra retooled what was once an MMO and turned it into a solo action RPG.

To help get Torchlight 3 to where it needed to be, Echtra launched the game on Steam via Early Access last June. This allowed players to get a feel for the game and offer their feedback, which was decidedly mixed. Much of the negative reviews pointed at Torchlight 3’s mechanics feeling too much like a f2p MMO, and Echtra spent much of the last year trying to mold the game back into a more typical Torchlight feel.

With the recent release of Torchlight 3’s Relic system, Echtra believes they’ve gotten things to the point where they can unleash the game on PC and console to eager Torchlight fans that have been patiently waiting for a full release.

Echtra announced today that Torchlight 3 will hit Xbox One, PS4, and relaunch as a full game on Steam on October 13. A Nintendo Switch game will arrive later this year. Price will be $39.99, but Steam still has it listed for its Early Access price of $33.99, so if you were on the fence, now’s the time to get a sweet discount on PC.

In keeping with Torchlight’s love of pets, each platform will get its own unique starter pet. Steam will get a Violet Glittersprite, Xbox gets a Verdant Glittersprite, PS4 gets an Azure Glittersprite, and the Nintendo Switch will get an Ashen Glittersprite. We have no idea what a Glittersprite is, but it’s probably pretty cool.

Torchlight 3 will launch with a 3-act campaign, four all-new classes, a unique Relic subclass system, customizable forts, and up to four-player co-op. We expect Echtra Games to continue supporting Torchlight 3 after release with additional content updates. Wishlist now for notification when the full game goes live.
