Two Overwatch Players Gloriously Mastered The In-Game Piano
Some talented Overwatch players have managed to put on quite the performance during Twitch streamer Dafran’s broadcast earlier this week, as they hopped on the in-game piano and began jamming out. While waiting for a match in the game’s queue, former Overwatch pro Dafran decided to respond to an invite from a player who simply asked “Piano? xD” What unfolded next was nothing short of glorious.
Dafran loaded into the map of Paris, only to witness two players, H3xis and CuzImPhilip, standing at the piano bench and ready to play. Both were using Symmetra in order to utilize her Photon Projector beam weapon to accurately press keys on the in-game piano. Upon arriving on the scene, H3xis began playing the theme song from Thomas the Tank Engine. From there, it was a snowball effect of meme-injected musical selections.
H3xis continued to play All Star, Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major, and Never Gonna Give You Up, to name a few. CuzImPhilip also played a few songs, including the theme song from Mario. This wasn’t the first iteration of Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major to be played in Overwatch either, as an impressive rendition was also provided by another player:
This was an impressive feat. Hitting the keys with precision while maintaining any sort of sense of rhythm is not easy to do in-game. Additionally, everything the duo played was clearly from memory, revealing that they both were well-versed on the actual piano. The best part of it all was their duets of The Entertainer (a difficult ragtime piece), the theme to The Elder Scrolls, and the hilarious STILL D.R.E. by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog, which saw H3xis switch to Genji in order to play the chords.
With games like Fortnite trying to take live music in video games to the next level, who knows what else players and developers will continue to pull off in the future. If you want to see the rest of the jam, check out the full VOD here.
