Upcoming Indie Game Monster Harvest Is Stardew Valley Mixed With Pokemon
Monster Harvest is yet another farming-adventure sim, set to launch for PC and Switch on May 13. However, the indie title hopes to bring something new to the table, as it looks to be a unique mixture of both Stardew Valley and Pokemon.
As is the case with all farming sims, Monster Harvest gives you a rundown barn and tasks you with turning it into something special. You’ll customize your home, grow dozens of crops, and craft your own furniture – you know, the typical farming sim stuff.
However, Monster Harvest is hoping to separate itself from the competition with a bonafide monster collection system.
“Monster Harvest is a pixelated farming simulator with a twist,” reads the latest Monster Harvest announcement. “You will find yourself starting a new life in Planimal Point, ready to develop your own farm, customize your house, craft your own furniture and make delicious jams. What’s more, you can even mutate your crops to create loyal and fierce companions to take into battle.”
While roaming around the world of Monster Harvest, you’ll come across Slimes that can mutate your crops – during them into one of 72 different Planimals. These can then follow you into battle and tag along on your adventures. It’s a cool concept, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out in-game.
Beyond mutant plants, here’s the full rundown of what you can expect with Monster Harvest:
- Take your loyal companions into battle as you look to save Planimal Point from the Evil SlimeCo.
- Three unique seasons: Dry, Wet, and Dark – Strange weather and seasons shift what you can grow.
- Venture into the town of Planimal Point – Discover the people and creatures that live there, build relationships to gain discounts in stores.
- Craft dozens of items for your farm and your house.
Monster Harvest is developed by Maple Powered Games and published by Merge Games – the latter of which recently published Dwarfheim and Spirit of the North.
The Planimal-based farming sim will arrive on PC and Switch on May 13.
