Valve Details What Lies Ahead For The Steam Deck

A month after the Steam Deck's launch, Valve has published a blog post commemorating the things the console, as well as the dev, team have achieved since then. The biggest achievement Valve wanted to highlight was that over 2000 games have been deemed Verified or Playable on the console.

"It's been exciting to see the variety of games the community has been playing – new or old, big or small, every genre – it seems like players have been having a ton of fun on Deck," reads the blog post. We're going to continue charging through the Steam catalog and can't wait to share the next big milestone here. We’re also listening carefully to customer feedback in this space, as we want to make sure the Deck Verified program is doing its job."

To make the feedback process streamlined, Valve has introduced a feedback feature which will ask players if they agree with the Verified status of a particular game.

Anti-cheat is another area where the Steam Deck developers have put in a lot of work. The console supports two of the biggest anti-cheat softwares – BattlEye and Easy Anti-Cheat, making it easier and player-friendly to run big multiplayer games like Apex Legends. However, the same processes have resulted in a number of Microsoft games being unable to run on the console. The changes need to come from the game developers' side, which the company has said will be handled by the devs in their own time.

In terms of other improvements, Valve has made dual trackpad typing available, made the game mode keyboard available in Desktop mode, and introduced a number of new keyboard themes. If you're looking toi squeeze out the maximum life from the battery, the team has also introduced TDP (processor power), GPU Clock control, and FSR (screen scaling) settings.

"Our goal continues to be finding ways to improve your experience on Steam Deck, and that means we’ll keep listening for your feedback," added the blog post. Please get in touch with us in the forums, and if you’re experiencing any issues with your Steam Deck, don’t hesitate to report the bug."
