Watch Dogs Legion gameplay impressions: hands on with the game-changing Ubisoft sequel
What’s also impressive is when seeing these NPCs in cutscenes or bantering with Bagley, your AI companion. While Ubisoft didn’t give an exact number, there are enough different sounding voice actors to make your recruits seem like genuine characters.
However, their stories will be determined solely through your actions in-game. Helping to sell this idea that these are more than just avatars, Legion will feature a permadeath system, adding a layer of tension that you simply don’t get in most open world games. You’ll also have free reign when it comes to dressing them up and outfitting them with gear, gadgets, and skills.
The minute to minute gameplay will feel familiar for those who’ve been glued to Watch Dogs since its debut. There’s a blend of shooting, hacking, stealth, and traversal that affords you some genuine variety when approaching missions. Whether you’re the explosive, bombastic type of player or someone more methodical, you can play Legion your way.
Overall, it’s made a staggering first impression and we’re only scratching the surface here. If the story turns out to be anything like Watch Dog 2’s then it could really go to some fun and provoking places. Also, while tragically overlooked by some, these games boast some of the best, most inventive multiplayer modes of this gen. It’s under wraps for now but we can’t wait to play more.
Watch Dogs Legion will be launching on March 3rd, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
