You can play the PS4 ‘Game of the Decade’, The Last of Us, for free right now

Metacritic – the site most well-known for aggregating critics' thoughts on games and giving readers one easy-to-understand, overall score – has announced its Game of the Decade.

Each year, Metacritic offers its users the chance to list vote on their favourite game of the last year to figure out what the public opinion is on the games that have scored the best over the past 12 months.

In 2020, we've also had the chance to look back over the past decade and decide which game deserves the 'Game of the Generation' label – and players have chosen well.

Naughty Dog’s post apocalyptic action-adventure game 'The Last of Us' has been voted as the best game of the last decade by Metacritic users..

But the best news of all is that you can play it for free right now with a special trick you might not realise exists on your PS4 console..

Thanks toPlayStation Now, Sony's streaming subscription service, you can play a massive selection of games on your PlayStation 4.

The likes of God of War , Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , GTA 5 – as well as over 700 PS4, PS3 and PS2 games – have been available for you to jump in and play right now on your PlayStation 4.

Currently, anyone with a PS4 console can sign up to PlayStation Now and try the service for seven days, completely for free.

This comes in good time, too – Sony has just added a new roster of PS4 exclusives to the service, including Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Overcooked! 2.

What is The Last of Us: Part 2?

The Last of Us Part 2 is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

It is the sequel to 2013's critically acclaimed The Last of Us and follows on five years after the first game ended.

Though little is known about the games central plot, the Naughty Dog website does say this:

"In The Last of Us Part II, Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships.

"When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits."

The Last of Us Remastered is available to download and play on the service, and if you've never tried it before you simply need to find PS Now in the store on your console to activate your free seven days.

From your console home page, simply scroll left to the store, navigate down to the PS Now tab and follow the instructions.

If you've never played The Last of Us, you're probably going to want to get through the game ahead of the sequel's release later this year.

The Last of Us 2 launches for PlayStation 4 on 29 May, 2020.
