Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 BEST reasons for Nintendo Switch Pro

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are rumoured to be heading to the Nintendo Switch this year. Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is already confirmed as coming to the Switch, while rumours this year have emerged of a surprise RDR2 port in the works. The whispers of Red Dead Redemption 2 making the surprise jump to Nintendo’s hit console have been rumbling along for awhile now.

These rumours began after major US retailer Target last year listed the Switch as one of the platforms Red Dead Redemption 2 was launching on.

And then towards the end of 2019 an image of the Nintendo Switch Pro controller was found in textures files in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Following hot on the heels of these curious spots, Spanish retailer Instant Gaming posted a listing for a Switch version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The online store said Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch is scheduled for a 2020 release date.

  • Nintendo Switch Pro in 2020: Big news for PS5 and Xbox Series X

If Red Dead Redemption 2 does end on the Switch it would be a huge coup for Nintendo, and one of the biggest surprises of the year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a gorgeous game, and having a Switch version would surely be a hugely impressive technical feat.

The Witcher 3 port for the Switch managed something similar, but was a visually scaled back version of the CD Projekt RED masterpiece.

If RDR2 does end up heading to the Switch then it’s likely the visuals will be pared down.

But, if the rumour mill is to be believed, the caveat to all of this could be the upcoming rumoured release of the Nintendo Switch Pro.

It’s believed Nintendo are planning on launching a new Nintendo Switch model in the middle of the year.

  • Nintendo Direct LEAKS: These new Switch games getting announced?

This new Switch would be coming out ahead of the launch of the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

The Switch Pro is rumoured to be more powerful than the OG model, boasting a far better screen for gaming on the go and supporting 4K visuals.

If the Switch Pro does get released, and it is as powerful as expected, then maybe RDR2 will run far better on the Pro than the OG model.

A Pro-specific patch may theoretically boost the visuals of RDR2, negating the need to release one version for the OG model and one for the Pro.

If Nintendo is able to pull this off then surely Red Dead 2 – and Breath of the Wild 2 – will provide the best reasons for upgrading to the Switch Pro.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the biggest games of this generation, while BoTW 2 is one of the most highly anticipated games on the horizon.

If the rumoured Switch Pro is the optimum way to run these games then they surely will provide the best reasons for existing Switch owners to upgrade.

Nintendo would undoubtedly need one of these games, or something of its ilk, to launch alongside the Switch Pro to help drive sales.

According to leaks Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is currently planned to have a 2020 release date.

If Ninty is able to get the Zelda sequel ready by the Switch Pro’s rumoured mid 2020 release date then it surely would be the ideal day one pick-up.

If not then Nintendo will no doubt have something up its sleeves for the Switch Pro launch line-up to show off the console’s capabilities.

Nintendo are rumoured to be holding a new Direct next week, so maybe some of these plans will become more apparent in the upcoming broadcast.
