Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Stage Creator Introduces a Phallic Problem

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been updated with a stage builder, allowing players to create their own arenas to do battle in. Naturally, players are using the tool to draw pictures of penises.

If you were to log into Smash Bros. Ultimate now and browse the user-created stages, you may discover some sexualised imagery, alongside plenty of other designs that could be considered ‘poor taste’.

It has become a big talking point on Twitter, with users sharing their various phallic finds.

After browsing through user creations today, it does appear that Nintendo is making efforts to take down any inappropriate content, as we found no penises ourselves and little that could be considered harmful. However, it should be noted that there is no report button on each user-created entry, making it difficult to alert Nintendo to any inappropriate material.

This is a situation that inevitably occurs with every video game that offers user-created content, and it’s a challenge for studios to police. Back in 2015, a developer who had worked on Lego Universe explained the impossible task of detecting and deleting penises in the brick-building sandbox.

Hopefully some better user moderation tools will be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the future. Until now… well, use this information for whatever discovery/avoidance purposes that you deem necessary. Alternatively, you could learn how to master new character Joker’s moveset.
