Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: The Fate of Atlantis DLC episode 1 is free through Sept. 1
From Aug. 26 through Sept. 1, the first episode of the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey expansion The Fate of Atlantis will be free to anyone who owns the game.
This free story arc is another great excuse to return to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Ubisoft’s Ancient Greek epic was one of Polygon’s Game of the Year picks for 2018, and its DLC has continued to expand the game’s vivid, immersive world beyond those Hellenic shores. With ability enhancements, three new maps, and a bunch of mythological beings to meet and defeat, The Fate of Atlantis is practically a whole new game.
The Fate of Atlantis takes Kassandra (or Alexios but come on, it’s definitely Kassandra) through the Greek afterlife and the lost city of Atlantis, co-mingling with Gods and Goddesses and learning some sweet new moves along the way. The first episode, “Fields of Elysium,” takes place in the ancient Greeks’ version of heaven, an idyllic land full of beautiful vistas, fallen heroes, and, according to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, ancient magical technology.
While The Fate of Atlantis builds upon a main game story arc, even those who haven’t completed the required questline can skip to the good stuff. There’s a shortcut that lets players start the DLC at level 52 with leveled gear and abilities, though the level progression and achievements won’t carry over to the main save file.
In addition to the free episode, Ubisoft is offering half off the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Season Pass which includes all DLC (though we’d recommend skipping the disappointing Legacy of the First Blade.) That brings the expansion pack down to $19.99.
The base game is also on sale for $19.99 at Amazon, meaning you can pick up one of the best games of 2018 and its excellent expansion for $39.98 total.
