Assassin’s Creed Valhalla season pass includes Beowulf quest, two full expansions

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s post-launch content will let players “uncover the monstrous truth behind the legend of Beowulf,” and send them to Ireland and Paris, Ubisoft announced Tuesday. Valhalla’s paid season pass will include two major expansions, but all players will get free seasonal content and a “conflict-free” Discovery Tour coming in 2021.

Fans who purchase the Gold, Ultimate, or Collector editions of the game — or who opt for the $39.99 season pass — will receive The Legend of Beowulf quest when the game launches in November, plus two additional expansions in 2021. In the spring, Wrath of the Druids will take players to Ireland where they must “unravel the mysteries of an ancient and mysterious druidic cult” through “haunted forests and dazzling landscapes.” Then, in the summer, The Siege of Paris will have them tangling with “key historical figures of war-torn Frankia” while they “infiltrate the fortified city of Paris and the River Seine.”

Everyone who purchases the game will also get access to tons of free content. That includes a Discovery Tour mode, an in-game educational field trip in the same style as Assassin’s Creed Origins, plus the following, via Ubisoft:

  • A new settlement area, allowing players to continue to grow and evolve their settlement.
  • A traditional Viking Festival: the Yule Festival, for players to experience in their settlement.
  • A new game mode: the River Raids. Building on Valhalla’s core raiding mechanic the mode will deliver a dynamic, challenging and highly replayable raid experience.
  • The addition of the Ranks for Jomsviking: in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players can not only create their lieutenant to be part of their raiding crew, but also recruit some from their friends and the community. In Season 1, players will see an update to the Jomsviking feature which will allow their Jomsviking to earn XP and rank up — the higher will be the rank of the lieutenant, the more silver players will earn when recruited by other players.
  • Finally, as for each season, Season 1 will also come with new player skills and abilities, weapons and gear, and cosmetic items for the settlement, longship, horse and raven.

Developers also have plans for season 2, which will launch in March 2021. At the core will be a “new game mode that builds on Valhalla’s core combat experiences” as well as additional festivals, new gear and cosmetic items, and more. There are also plans for a third and fourth season, but no details were given.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be released on Nov. 10, for Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The PlayStation 5 version arrives on Nov. 12.
