Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War season 2 will start later this month
The latest Call of Duty season is almost here. On Tuesday, Treyarch announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone season 2 is coming on Feb. 25. While Treyarch hasn’t revealed much about the season yet, the release date announcement did come with a trailer that gives us a few clues about the Operators and arsenal that might be included.
The trailer shows a team of soldiers flying through the jungle of Laos in a helicopter, apparently in pursuit of someone named Naga. It turns out Naga is a magnum-toting, sunglasses-wearing, probable villain who is working to secure a shipment of Nova 6, which he’s sending to Verdansk. Near the end of the trailer, Naga escapes and our helicopter full of soldiers arrives to clean out the remaining adversaries and search for Naga on foot.
Based on previous trailers, it seems like many of the folks in the helicopter will make up the Operators that players can choose from in season 2, but that’s not all the new content the trailer revealed. We also got a glimpse of a few new weapons that are likely heading to the game.
The first new weapon that shows up is a Crossbow, which one of the probable Operators uses to take out an enemy. Next, another soldier hops out of the helicopter carrying what looks to be a Galil, which would be new to the game. Then a few other soldiers shuffle by with slightly less recognizable but also possibly new weapons, and finally, someone jumps out of the chopper carrying a whole minigun.
Of course, we don’t know if these weapons will all make it into the game or in what form; the minigun could be a new Scorestreak. We should have a better idea in the near future as Treyarch reveals more about season 2 before its release next week.
